Heather J.

Licensed Optician

Heather is a graduate of the High School of Commerce in Springfield, Massachusetts. She attended Westfield State University where she earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Education. Before joining the practice in 2016, Heather was in the retail management industry for a nationally known retail store for over 10 years. Soon after coming to Baystate Eye Care, she saw her focus shifting from the retail industry to the medical professional industry and decided to become an apprentice optician. After successfully completing all requirements, including over 6,000 hours of hands-on training, passage of the American Board of Opticians and the National Contact Lens Examiners' certification exams, and passing the State Board of Opticians written and practical examinations, Heather is now a licensed by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts as a Registered Dispensing Optician. She is a member of the Opticians Association of Massachusetts and a Fellow of the National Academy of Opticianry. Heather is married and lives in the Greater Springfield Area and enjoys spending time with her family and extended family, including all 7 "brothers." When she is not working in the Optical Shoppe, she enjoys reading, baking and crafting in her spare time. Heather is a talented optician who truly cares for each and every patient she sees and looks forward to continuing her journey as an optician here at BEC Optical.

The Optical Shoppe is currently open for walk-in service, Monday through Friday, from 9am until 4pm. If you need to visit us before or after walk-in hours, please contact us to schedule an appointment at a convenient time. B.E.C. OPTICAL is considered an optical goods retail store as well as a healthcare facility. MASKS ARE REQUIRED when visiting the Shoppe. Measures we have taken to reopen and operate safely are in line with our state, local and industry guidelines. Please know that the safety of our patients, employees, and their respective families, is the single most important factor prompting these necessary changes as we move forward together.
